Pochin’s named contractor for Birkdale care village

Care provider Belong has extended its relationship with Pochin’s after awarding a contract for the North West construction and property specialist to build a new care village in Birkdale, Southport.
The four-storey development on Oxford Road will provide accommodation for more than 100 people, with 30 one and two-bedroom independent living apartments and six households where 24-hour support will be provided. Each household will comprise 12 spacious suites opening out onto open plan living, dining and kitchen areas.
Commenting on the contract win, Pochin’s Ltd CEO Jim Nicholson said: “Given their focus on supporting families and local communities, working with Belong has always felt like a great match for Pochin’s. This announcement continues a solid start to 2018 for us, with a strong project pipeline building for the coming months.”
Earlier this year, Pochin’s completed work on Belong’s seventh care village in Newcastle-under-Lyme, which incorporates a heritage gallery and involved the careful restoration of a grade II-listed building within the site.
Belong CEO, Tracey Stakes, added: “Our recent project with Pochin’s has revitalised a much loved historic building in the town, and the new village for Birkdale will equally take inspiration from its surroundings, utilising materials found in the West Birkdale Conservation area throughout.
“It’s fantastic to be able to continue our relationship with Pochin’s as one project completes and another begins.”
Consultants on Belong Birkdale include Pozzoni, TRP Consulting and BCA Landcape. Work is expected to complete by the end of 2019.
