Stowmarket care team walks for dementia

By

A team of care staff from Hillcroft House care home in Stowmarket has taken part in a charity walk to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Six carers from the home completed the ‘Memory Walk’ at Christchurch Park in Ipswich on Sunday 2nd September to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, which works to raise awareness of the condition and funds for vital research. More than 220,000 people develop dementia every year and Hillcroft House provides specialist care to many residents who live with the condition.

Memory Walks are held all over the country by individuals, businesses and care homes looking to support the charity. The team at Hillcroft House raised over £500.

The home, which is part of the Healthcare Homes group, provides residential care for up to 43 residents, many of whom live with dementia. The team carries out a number of events and activities to support those living with the condition and are regular fundraisers for the charity.

Home Manager Amanda Atkins said, “I’d like to extend a huge congratulations to our team who took part in this special event and raised so much money.

“Many of our residents live with dementia so supporting causes like this is so important to us. We’re all very proud of them.”

Hillcroft House is based on Finborough Road in Stowmarket. For more information on the range of services provided call 01449 774633 or visit www.healthcarehomes.co.uk.
