Barchester Healthcare breaks new ground with two new care home builds

National care provider, Barchester Healthcare, marked the start of their newest care home builds at two new sites. Adding to their portfolio of over 200 care homes and 6 independent hospitals, the company recently broke ground for the first time at their latest builds in Wallingford and Hamworthy.

The new Wallingford home is under construction by Lawrence Baker Ltd, and will accommodate 70 people in the Solihull community with residential care and dementia care needs. The Hamworthy project, under construction by Acheson Construction Ltd, will have 68 beds to accommodate residents in the Hamworthy area.

Andy Williams, Senior Property Development Manager of Barchester Healthcare recently visited both sites to officiate the breaking of the grounds for the first time with a silver shovel, marking the start of the construction process.

Andy said, “My colleagues and I were very impressed with work we saw at the latest Barchester sites. We’re pleased to be working with two different construction teams to build our new signature Barchester homes, all designed with a high specification. Each new care home will be a positive addition to the communities we are building in, where we can deliver personalised care for those that need it, and provide employment for those that are passionate about caring for others.”

The new, luxury homes will feature en-suite bedrooms with shared lounges and separate dining areas, an activity space for the homes’ lifestyle enrichment programmes, as well as secure, landscaped gardens, providing, peaceful, beautiful outdoor spaces for prospective residents. Both homes will provide bespoke, person-centred care for those with residential care needs, as well as expert dementia care in Barchester’s unique Memory Lane Communities.

Andy went on to say: “We are very excited about the construction of our new care homes. All have their own unique design that suits the surrounding areas from the type of materials that will be used, to the shape of the building in relation to their own environments, but all share innovative Barchester trademarks that will accommodate our residents, who will be able to enjoy a beautiful home with landscaped outdoor spaces.”

Barchester Healthcare’s Wallingford and Hamworthy care homes are scheduled to open in Winter 2020 and Autumn 2020.
