Benitaz Care acquire Avonwood Manor

Avonwood Manor, a residential and nursing care home at Nelson Road, Branksome, Poole was sold as a going concern by Administrators from Moore Stephens in February this year. The Administrators had been appointed in April 2014 when the company that owned the home got into financial difficulties.

The home typically accommodates more than 40 residents (both private and state funded), and has 65 full and part time care staff.

Mr Gnanakumar, a director of the purchaser Beritaz Care, commented: “We are pleased to acquire Avonwood Manor Care Home. It adds to our portfolio of care homes in Southern England and maintains continuity of good service provision for its residents, their next-of-kin and staff alike.”

Duncan Swift, joint administrator, commented: “We wish the business and Beritaz, its purchaser, well for the future. Achieving this sale after 20 months of trading the care home following the insolvency of its former owner shows just how well the UK’s rescue culture can work to keep a good business alive for the benefit of its customers and staff and enable it to be passed to a new owner free of the financial difficulties that had hindered its development. It is a fantastic result. Along with Beritaz we would like to thank the residents, their next-of-kin, the care home staff, our managing agents HCMS, our sale agents Christie + Co;  the Poole and Bournemouth commissioning local authority and the Care Quality Commission for making this possible.”
