Environment MP Visits Award Winning Care Home to Open Nature Trail
The Secretary of State for the Environment and Surrey Heath MP Michael Gove visited Kings Lodge care home in Camberley Surrey on Friday 29 July.
The Conservative MP was asked to come and officially open the homes recently finished garden nature trail, that according to recent studies and the UK’s Social Care Institute for Excellence ‘can stimulate senses, spark memories of hobbies and encourage conversation’ in dementia sufferers.
“As well as giving exposure to natural light, vitamin D, an outdoor space provides a place for familiar activities like bird watching and looking at nature. The nature trail winds around the 15 acre estate that Kings Lodge sits on and offers a unique opportunity to provide a feast for the senses. The smell and colour of plants can provide excellent sensory stimulation,” said Aura Care Living director Cliff Hasler.
MP Michael Gove said: “It is the nicest care home I have seen, I’m impressed by the sheer thoughtfulness.”
Priding itself with an exceptional team and outstanding service, the stunning care home operated by Aura Care Living has now been open for one year for residential care, dementia care and can accommodate both respite and permanent residents.
Cliff Hasler, Managing Director of Aura Care Living explained that the Aura’s vision of combining “exceptional care and service with a top class design, enhances the experiences of the residents.
“As well as the wonderful surroundings and calming atmosphere, there is a host of activities arranged throughout the week by the activities curator, Denise. Activities range from personalised one to one time to group activities such as planting and ‘picking your own Pimms’,” he added.
