Hailey Bieber suffered a small stroke and a hole in her heart

Hailey says she knew at first that something was wrong while having breakfast with her Justin Beiberwhen she felt a “strange sensation” in her right arm.

She also says her fingertips felt “numb and weird,” and she was having trouble speaking.

“The right side of my face started drooping, and I couldn’t get a sentence,” she says. “Immediately, I thought I was having a stroke.”

When Hailey arrived at the hospital, her face and arm were feeling better — but after a full night and a series of tests, it was determined she had had a transient ischemic attack, also known as a mini-stroke.

Doctors told Hailey that her recent COVID-19 case, travel and a change in birth control contributed to the mini-stroke.

She was discharged from the hospital the next day, but on a subsequent follow-up visit revealed that she had a hole in her heart of between 12 and 13 mm.

After the diagnosis, Hailey eventually underwent surgery to repair the hole in her heart – and according to her, the operation went “very smoothly.”

“The most important thing for me is that I feel really relieved that we were able to figure everything out, that we were able to close it, and that I would be able to get past this really scary situation and just live my life,” she says.

“If there’s anyone watching this who has gone through the same or something similar, I definitely really sympathize with you. And I understand how life-changing and scary it is.”
