Hampshire care home operator expands for future growth supported by Barclays

An independent family run Hampshire care home business has agreed a significant undisclosed re-finance package with Barclays, including additional funds to invest and develop its residential nursing care home portfolio.

Heathfield Care Homes operates two residential nursing homes in the county, Canford Manor located at Lee-On-Solent and Tudor Lodge located on the outskirts of Fareham. The business provides care to the elderly and terminally ill and prides itself on providing its residents with a safe, relaxed and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort are of prime importance.

The funding package will allow further investment of Tudor Lodge care and nursing home by extending and increasing the number of beds by 25 alongside improving facilities for its residents.

Jane Palmer, Director at Heathfield Care Homes, said: “The decision to move our existing business to Barclays has been taken at a time when demand for the provision of exceptional care continues to rise. The new funding will assist us in the development of the business and with Barclays support, experience and knowledge, will allow us to fulfil our growth strategy now and in the future whilst continuing to provide excellent care for both existing and new residents.”

Heathfield Care Homes was founded in 2005 and is owned and managed by husband and wife team Mark and Jane Palmer. The Barclays deal was led by relationship director Lucy Smith and development manager Laura Fitzgerald.

Lucy Smith, Barclays Relationship Director and Healthcare specialist for Hampshire and Solent, added: “We’re pleased to be able to provide Mark and Jane who have many years’ experience in the healthcare sector with a full banking package. Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise within the sector to support experienced and professional operators such as the Palmer’s which is vital in terms of meeting local specialist healthcare requirements.”

Heathfield Care Homes currently provides 106 beds across its two homes and employs 186 staff across the company.
