Israel Strikes Gaza, Kills Islamic Jihad Leader 25,000 bookers invited –

from David Fratini

Operation “Breaking Dawn” began. A girl is also among the victims. Hamas: Israel will pay the price

A rectangular wall separates from the retaining wall in the center of the Gaza: where there was a window there is now a hole three times the size to let out dust and flames. Death remains – according to Israeli intelligence – before Islamic Jihad leaders plot the attacks.

“Rise of Dawn” begins with the murder of Taysir al-Jabari (along with at least ten others, including a five-year-old girl), and no one yet knows how it will end. Officials explain that they have sent a message to Hamas to stay out of it, saying they want it to be a mini-war against jihad. They know the chances are slim: 25,000 bookers have already been recalled, Roads around the Strip were blocked, and Iron Dome anti-missile batteries were placed around Tel Aviv.

The reprisal announced at noon came at nine in the evening, Islamic spokespersons assured. Rockets into cities north of Gaza are always the first to fire when this cyclical conflict resumes. In Hebrew jargon, the army is called a shivuv, which to Fania Oz-Salberger, daughter of the novelist Amos, seems dangerous and desperate: another round of pain that seems inevitable, symbolizing the cycles of the sun in the Bible. And indeed the dawn.

Jabari was expelled because he would be the one leading the group accused of retaliating for the arrest of Bassam al-Saadi five days earlier, 61 years inside rather than outside Israeli prisons: Among the leaders in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, are suspected of planning attacks on Israelis. Investigators are expected to open operations in the West Bank before Gaza. And so it happened. Intelligence prepared the public with information filtered to military journalists: Jihad defined the final details of an attack with anti-tank rockets fired over a barrage of civilian targets.

Israel goes to war during an election campaign again in recent years. Yair Lapid has been prime minister for a month and a half, as interim head of government (at least until the Nov. 1 election) that Palestinian factions wanted to pressure. The coalition led by Naftali Bennett until the crisis erupted after eleven days of conflict in May last year.. Among civilians: residents of Israeli cities were hit by rockets (about fifty in the first minutes alone), and two million Palestinians in Gaza squeezed under the rule of Hamas along a 41-kilometer-long and 6-to-12-kilometer-wide sand corridor.. Few can escape due to an Israeli blockade against the fundamentalists, while the Egyptian-controlled southern crossing has been almost permanently closed since 2007, when Hamas seized the Strip from the Palestinian Authority by arms.
