Israel strikes targets, including offices in the Gaza Strip

A 5-year-old girl, now seven, is among the dead. In the north of the Strip, commander of Islamic Jihad Tayazir Jabari and Salameh Abed of Jihad were also killed.

Operation “Breaking Dawn” –

According to aviation sources, Israel also hit a target in Khan Yunis in the south. An Islamic Jihad post in Beit Kahya, north of the Strip, was attacked as part of Operation Breaking Dawn, which means “arrival of a new day”. A military spokesman said that a “special alert” has been declared on the country’s front. Iron Dome, a missile defense system, has been deployed to cover up to 80 kilometers inside Israel in an area that includes Tel Aviv and Modin.

Affected Residence –

According to local sources, the victim apartment in the “Bourj Falastin” building belongs to Islamic Jihad. A few activists were inside at the time of the attack and their fate is still unclear. Meanwhile, the Gaza Ministry of Health has declared a state of emergency. There are now reports that some Islamic Jihad fighters have been injured in an airstrike in Khan Yunis, south of Gaza.

Already in the last few hours, the Israeli army had decided to deploy its forces around the Gaza Strip. Premier Yair Labit met with security officials at army headquarters in Tel Aviv, deciding to upgrade the Gaza Strip with artillery, infantry, armored forces and special forces.

Lapid: “Activity due to a concrete threat” –

Confirming the targets struck in Gaza, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid explained, “This is a measure to eliminate a concrete threat against Israeli citizens and the areas near Gaza. The government of Israel will not allow terrorists to threaten citizens. We know we will get to anyone who tries,” he said.

Jihad leader captured –

On August 3, Israeli special forces captured Bassen a-Saadi, the leader of Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, by surprising him during a late-night visit to his family in the Jenin refugee camp. On that occasion, the military wing of Islamic Jihad firmly declared that “Israel is responsible for its life. If it becomes a martyr, it will pay a heavy price.”
