UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira needed a 155-pound weight allowance on point before his title fight against Justin Getthy on May 7 in Phoenix, because current rules do not allow a one-pound allowance normally awarded in non-championship bouts. Unfortunately, the Brazilian weighed 156 pounds on his first attempt at UFC weighs 274then 155.5 after undressing inside the cube of shame.
***Update: The Do Bronx had 1 hour to lose the extra weight but still hit 155 lbs. As a result, the lightweight title was vacated. The fight will continue on Saturday. Night but the title will remain vacant if Oliveira wins. If Gaethje proves victorious, “The Highlight” will be crowned as a new 155-pound champion.
Gaethje weighed exactly 155 pounds (Get the full UFC 274 weight results here).
Norma Dumont also failed to gain weight. The visibly drained “immortal” went into the chest of shame but was unable to gain less than 146.5 lbs. The promotion later announced that Dumont would not continue to drop any additional weight and would instead lose 30 percent of her wallet, paying opponent Missy Chiason (who weighed 145.5 pounds).
